Gestures in (Statistical) Literacy: Graph of Lunches


From an elementary school newspaper, in its original, vibrant grayscale, we proudly present: The Graph of Lunches.

I think it is a great attempt by kids who knew that the pie chart is used for such matters, but weren't up to summarizing their data so they showed the particular outcome for each respondent (at least that is how I interpret the many different bars). I think this in-between "graph" would be a nice intermediate step between a tabular list of choices (one per student) and a pie chart summary.
